Résumé : |
Owing to the precarious and rapidity changing state of many of the world's forests, increasing attention is being paid to forest inventory, the technique of collecting, evaluating, and presenting specified information on forest areas. Because most forests cover extensive areas, data are usually collected by sampling, and an understanding of the various sampling methods is necessary to select the most appropriate one and to draw accurate inferences from the date. This book provides a step-by-step explanation of the mathematical-statistical background of sampling methods used in forest inventory. Numérical examples are worked out for each method, and exercices provide a direct check on comprehension.
