"Crop growth models are, increasingly, applied for modelling crop growth and development under a wide range of climatic and soil conditions, under various management types (e.g. intensive vs. extensive agriculture) and at various scales (from field to globe). In response to these diverse uses of models, new software engineering techniques have recently been adopted in the crop modelling field to construct crop modelling frameworks that create flexibility and modularity in crop growth modelling, thus offering simulation options for different processes relevant to agricultural production systems.
