Résumé :	[...] A way to quantify ecological similarity between species, and therefore interspecific competition differences, is to use functional traits, such as leaf, seed and wood characteristics. These traits capture key ecological strategies related to competitive interactions such as rapid resource acquisition, regeneration ability or shade tolerance (Chave et al. 2009). Using functional traits to quantify ecologic similarities, two main hypotheses were studied (Cahill et al. 2008; Kunstler et al. 2012; Lasky et al. 2014). (i) The trait similarity competition hypothesis predicts that competitive interaction strengths between species increases with decreasing niche distance.
