Résumé : |
Amphibians face declines due to various threats. Chytrids, fungi responsible for many extinctions, are one of them. Little information is currently known about the species Pseudophryne bibronii. This research investigates the relationships of this species with chytrid as well as the interactions water/environment/risk of infection by a comparison of sites, which had a different water management, and a comparison of habitats (artificial: tiles placed on the ground and natural: dead branches, litter, and so on.) whose environmental variables measured may differ. These variables include edaphic data, DNA samples and frogs body measurements to assess their health. Comparisons and risk of infection were assessed by modelling, choosing different types of generalized linear mixed models (GLM[...]

These variables include edaphic data, DNA samples and frogs body measurements to assess their health. Comparisons and risk of infection were assessed by modelling, choosing different types of generalized linear mixed models (GLMM) to try to understand how the environment can influence the presence and quantity of chytrids, alongside the severity of the disease on this frog species. The results show a real effect of artificial refuges on the chytrid load found on frogs but remain unclear regarding irrigation. These results produced a variety of management advice, compared to what had already been put in place and what managers were willing to accept.
