Résumé : |
Species Distribution Models (SDM) were calibrated into a past reference period, and projected in present time periods to test if the suitability variation (SDM-derived) can be used to predict dieback. This was conducted over the Vosges Mountains in France for two major coniferous species: Abies alba and Picea abies. This study showed a weak link between suitability variation derived from SDM and dieback. The link is however spatially structured with areas demonstrating good performances of the model and others bad. This comes from other variables that are not included in SDMs, in particular stand informations, containment and above all else climatic past (trend of summer climatic water balance and past mean summer temperature).
