"In this book, Ingrid Verhaegen and Guido Van Huylenbroeck from the Agricultural Economics Department of Ghent University study the governance of such emerging supply channels for quality farm products. Transactions Costs Economics is used as a framework to investigate in detail transaction costs and governance structures of six case studies. The analysis shows that the choice of governance structures systematically varies with the quality objective of the initiatives. On this basis, the authors develop a framework which permits the evaluation of the efficiency of different hybrid governance structures for quality farm products.
