Résumé : |
This study assessed degradation drivers in 5700 ha of a Quercus forest submitted to intense human induced disturbances located in Bouhachem Mountain, northern of Morocco. No previous study on degradation drivers was carried out for Bouhachem site. Silvicultural and dasometric characteristics were studied on the basis of a sampling of 501 plot over the forest. Analyses were conducted using a north-south gradient and the dominance of Quercus suber or Quercus canariensis for the forest stands representing main forest patterns in the Mediterranean area of North of Africa. Anthropic, physiographic and dasometric features were all related to branches damages, bark damages after cork stripping, erosion occurrence and livestock rate over the forest with a PCA. Results showed that both sides are incredibly affected by human induced degradation, however the south side presents extremer values of branches removal and debarking damages. The easier accessibility to the forest areas combined to livestock rate and the higher presence of Quercus suber explain it. Branches removal reaches extreme intensities in both Quercus dominated stand typologies. Erosion presence resulted not directly linked to the impact of human activities on the forest. Possible tools for achieve a solution for Bouhachem mountain are proposed in a sustainable forest management plan framework. |
