Plant quarantine personnel or anyone interested in plant quarantine in general or specific phases of this field of work, and who attempts to secure information from existing publications, will find almost immediately that much of the litterature is of a piecemeal nature, deals only with specialized plant quarantine activities, concerns plant quaratine activities within a given country, but does not present the subject as a composit whole in which all aspects are dealt with in such form so as to constitute an overall and related review. In addition, lacking is a publication that can be used on an international level and that hopefully would result in a more uniform presentation of plant quarantine services throughout the world.
