An initiative taken by the Ministry of Agriculture to engage in an investigation on utilising forest resources to the benefit of water in 2012 was an opportunity to take stock of the current situation. This endeavour brought together forest managers and water resource managers to consult and jointly examine issues. One outcome was an inventory of existing projects relating to salient regional specificities. Instances of this are the Semeau, Alpeau and Gestofor pilot projects. Potential actions and support were able to be defined. These are liable to be incorporated into the next rural development plan, embodied in legislation or else be fostered by these contacts between water and forest managers.

La démarche du ministère de l’Agriculture d’engager en 2012 une réflexion sur la valorisation des forêts en faveur de la ressource en eau a permis de faire un bilan de la situation actuelle. Ce fut l’occasion de regrouper les gestionnaires des forêts et les gestionnaires de la ressource en eau autour d’une même démarche de concertation et de réflexion. Le travail réalisé a permis de mettre en avant les projets existants liés à des spécificités régionales fortes. Des projets pilotes tels que Semeau, Alpeau et Gestofor en sont l’expression. Des perspectives d’action et de soutien ont pu être dégagées. Elles pourront s’inscrire dans la prochaine programmation de développement rural, voire être d’ordre réglementaire ou encore être favorisées par la mise en place de contacts entre gestionnaires d’eau et de forêts.
