Résumé :	Desalination is often considered as not being an option when sustainable water supply solutions are being sought due to various misconceptions around energy use and environmental impact compared to other approaches. Nick Apostolidis and Mike Healy address these misconceptions and use the example of the City of Sydney’s Decentralised Master Plan to show that desalination can be used as one of a range of water supply sources in a sustainable solution - an example which highlights well IWA’s principles for a City of the Future.
