Résumé : |
Following the significant decay at the beginning of the 1990s, particularly in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, and confronted with the many issues raised by climate change, Morocco has decided to implement a system for monitoring forest health status with the assistance of the Forestry Health Department in France. The scheme relies essentially on a comprehensive network of plots and a wide-scale monitoring system. A number of specific strategies have been developed for significant, locally relevant topics (e.g., the epidemiology of defoliator insects preceding decay). The first phase conducted under the supervision of the FAO from 2006 to 2008 served as a test and provided the opportunity to set up the programme in the Middle Atlas region.
