Résumé : |
The Brassica breeder seeks precise tools for measuring the self-incompatibility phenotype. Two aspects have to be taken into account : the recognition system and the rejection of pollen by the stigma. Different techniques of measurement of the recognition system (biological, biochemical and molecular) are already available. We present here results which demonstrate the complexité of the rejection phenotype: (i) no relation between recognition and rejection phénotype, (ii) the évolution of a rejection phenomena throughout the period of stigma receptivity, (iii) the independence of stigma and pollen phenotypes. Whilst the recognition phenotype appears to be under control of'the S locus, one or more different loci may control the rejection phenotype. Breeders are currentlv equipped wi[...]

Whilst the recognition phenotype appears to be under control of'the S locus, one or more different loci may control the rejection phenotype. Breeders are currentlv equipped with tools for investigating the recognition system in Brassica. However, there is a need for more precise knowledge of the genetie control of the rejection mechanism.
