Tropical forests in Mesoamerica are among the most important diverssity hot spots in the world. This study was carried out in the state of Tabasco, Mexico, where 90% of the original vegetation has been replaced by pastures for extensive cattle ranching. The goal was to compare the effects of two different type of past landuses - selective logging and shifting cultivation - on tropical evergreen forest, and based on this information, offer management advice. |
