Résumé :	Most people of the Netherlands live a few meters below sea-level, which could not have been accomplished without adanced knowledge and technologies. Coastal engineering focusses on coastal morphology, dune erosion, methods of coastal protection and design of breakwaters - Rivers engineering deals mainly with river morphology, including reservoirs and estuaries. - Ports and shipping concentrates on the application of simulation techniques to logistic aspects of ports, terminals and loocks. - Hydraulic structures comprises all more or less rigid structures in waters, like locks, weirs, piers, storm surge barriers and tunnels. - Probalistic design methods play an important role in e.g. the design of dikes, but are applied nowadays in all fields of hydraulic engineering. - Offshore tec[...] Most people of the Netherlands live a few meters below sea-level, which could not have been accomplished without adanced knowledge and technologies.
