Résumé : |
The effects of prenatal stress on the behaviour and physiology of offspring have, so far, mainly been studied in rodents while only a few experiments have been conducted on farm animals. In modern farming practices, animals are exposed to many stressors during pregnancy, such as transport, isolation and restraint. Two complementary farming systems and species were chosen as models for this thesis : intensive dairy goat farming and extensive sheep farming. Transport in isolation and isolation were repeatedly applied to goats and ewes during the last third of pregnancy.
