Résumé :	La loi tronquée peut être regardée comme un outil de contrôle global d’aménagement et de gestion des peuplements réguliers et irréguliers, aux niveaux national aussi bien que régional. Elle fournit une structure « normale » d’équilibre et permet de déterminer, sans connaître les âges, les prélèvements « normaux » par catégorie de diamètre. Des graphiques tirés des propriétés de la loi tronquée illustrent l’analogie qu’elle réalise entre futaie régulière équienne et futaie jardinée. A truncated law can be seen as an overall control tool for planning and management of forest stands, both even- and uneven-aged, and at the regional or national level. It provides a standard equilibrium stand structure, enabling the standard removal for each diameter class to be determined without knowing tree and stand ages. Several figures depicting the properties of the truncated law illustrate the analogy it achieves between an even-aged high forest and a selection forest.
