The aim of the MSc thesis was to develop and design direct Nanofiltration membrane treatment plants. Direct nanofiltration membrane is an attractive treatment for the removal of natural organic matter when water presents low turbidity. It has been identified as a sustainable solution by Scottish Water that can provide water quality requirements of the Quality and Standard Programme. Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies UK has developped four standard designs based upon the incorporation of Koch and PCI membranes, spiral and tubular technology respectively. The report aims to be a design guidance which offers advice on how to design Direct Nanofiltration membranes plants and details the process, chemical and hydraulic calculations that occur in a Design Process. |
