After a quick inventory of the EU's forestry sector, the key issues and the legal framework are set out before examining the principles of the EU's forestry strategy and policy. Then, all the forest-related existing policies are deeply explained whatever their areas : sectorial, cross-cutting or horizontal. To conclude, a personal analysis is given and improvements are proposed. Then, the resolutions, outcome, commitments and work program of the pan European process on forestry are sumarized. Finally, the international process on forestry is highlighted from Rio Summit to IPF/IFF and UNFF processes trying to make clear acronyms, shakeholder committed, key issues, differences between North and South statements and interests. At the end, the EU's common positions on UNFF 1 are outlined. |
