The knowledge of the hydraulic operation of the storm overflows is thus essential. In this context, the aim of this article is to present initially the mode of use of 3D modelling (FLUENT) to understand the hydraulic operation of the storm overflows. In the second time, we validated the 3D hydraulic models in experiments. In the third time, we applied 3D modelling to the storm overflow of Clichy. Simulations enabled us to know the various shapes of water lines and the evolution of the overflow rate along the weir. Careful consideration must be given to the study of the initial and boundary conditions and, as well as the quality of the computational mesh and the choice of the model of turbulence. The analysis of the results of simulations provided us significant information to improve the instrumentation of this work.
